We get to know Nick Behn on Instagram. There, as @Nick_shk_hh, he gives us an insight into the craft of the SHK installer. For a few weeks now, he's also been sharing his everyday life with the Meisterwerk app. A look back.
"Every day is different in the trade." Under this motto, Nick Behn shows on Instagram how versatile the work as a plumber and heating engineer is. The family man reports with humor and heart on topics ranging from teamwork to toolporn. Anyone who follows him senses - someone has found his place here. But that wasn't always the case. Nick had a hard time at school, his father died when he was 15 years old. After training as a plumber, he joined the German armed forces, followed by a few years at a pipe cleaning company. A monotonous job, Nick thinks. That's why he started working as a plumber again six years ago. The master craftsman's examination followed a year ago, and all that on the side - with three small children.
Since January, Nick has been working at Bornkessel e.K. near Hamburg. The four-man business is run by owner Andreas Becker. He and Nick take care of quotations and Job planning. The store is buzzing; anyone who wants a new bathroom can't expect an appointment before July. For Nick, one thing is clear: "The leap into digital has to come." He has also been taking care of the store's Instagram presence since the beginning of the year. Nevertheless, he describes the switch to the Meisterwerk app as an "adjustment." Familiar routines have to be changed. First, the Lotus calendar continues to run in parallel, then Nick and his boss decide to make a "cut." After a few days, job planning only runs via the Meisterwerk app. After two weeks, the journeyman and apprentice also join in. While the former is rather skeptical about the innovation, the young apprentice feels right at home in the craftsman app. "He's right at the front of the pack," smiles Nick.
After four weeks of using the Meisterwerk app, Nick is positive: "It took me two weeks to really get into it. Now it works great." He compares the ease of work with other SHK apps. "After all, I can load a photo of the cistern into the manufacturer app and immediately get the year of manufacture and spare part displayed instead of spending hours searching through the product catalog." Time that should be saved, in his opinion. After all, digitization is coming one way or another. Who can argue with that?
