In the middle of the corona pandemic, Philipp Schwenk suddenly has to take over his father's painting business. Together with his mother Esther and sister Nadja, he reOrganises the business.
Last year, at the beginning of the Corona pandemic, a state of emergency prevailed at the family business Farben Schwenk, as it did everywhere else. In addition, the family and the workforce suffer a severe blow of fate. As a result, Philipp Schwenk takes over his father's business. From one day to the next, the family-run craft business has to reOrganise itself.
Up to now, the planning of construction site operations was done verbally in many areas and was shouldered by the boss. Material planning was one hundred percent analogous. Here, the majority of the responsibility rested on the employees. Until the respective information arrived in paper form at the office from the various construction sites, one or the other important detail was sometimes lost. It even happened that the telephone reception was so poor that the information could not be passed on directly between the office and the construction site.
Nadja and Philipp Schwenk were now faced with the mammoth task of bringing together the resources of the six-person team with the large Job volume. When it came to organization and planning, the two needed a better overview. They came across the Meisterwerk app on Instagram. Because of Corona, there was an extra-long test period that benefited the business. Philipp Schwenk recalls, "You can't imagine the beginning being too easy. But it's definitely worth it in the end. For us, planning and everyday construction site work is now almost inconceivable without the Meisterwerk app."
Today, there is a clear division and processes that are comprehensible for everyone in the company. The documentation simply runs better digitally than analog. For Philipp Schwenk, it is particularly important that the team is involved. "Employees are more committed when they are actively involved in the whole process. The use of digital options is also well received by our customers," says the young entrepreneur.
The family business was founded in 1923. Philipp Schwenk takes over the business in the fourth generation. He continues the traditional business, but at the same time modernizes his own showroom as well as the range of products. The team continues to carry out classic painting work on facades and walls. In addition, the company now specializes in seamless surfaces and natural products such as clay plaster.
